I love being a parent, and I love a good parenting book. I feel like they can be so inspiring and informative.
These two books that I mention below got me particularly excited about being a better parent, and when I applied the principles, I saw major differences in my relationship with my children.
Here they are…
Playful Parenting (Lawrence J. Cohen) -I can’t say enough good things about this book! It’s probably my all-time favorite. Its all about connecting with your children through playfulness, and how that forges a positive relationship.
The Conscious Parent (Shefali Tsabary)-This is a book that gives you a different mindset about parenting, and better understanding your relationship with your child. I loved it, and its one that I’ll read over and over again.
And, a couple bonus options! I didn’t necessarily agree with every detail of these last two, but I do think the overall concepts were really helpful to understand.
Power of Positive Parenting (Dr. Glenn I. Latham) -The idea of encouraging positive behavior behavior by recognizing it, and not giving a lot to the “junk” behavior, has worked so well with my kids! And I think it can be a really positive, and helpful thing, when done in moderation.
Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids (Dr. Laura Markham) – this is the most recent of the books on this list. I love the concept of being a peaceful parent, and taking control of my own life and the situation, and responding accordingly, instead of taking out emotions on a child.
Have you read any of these books? What are your favorite parenting books?
