Jay’s 3rd Birthday party was last Saturday. He wanted it dinosaur themed, because he’s been very into dinosaurs lately. He loved that I made his name sound like a dinosaur name on the invitation, haha.
To keep costs down for decorating for the party, I borrowed all of the plants from my Mom’s house! I loved the look of tons of green for a dinosaur party, like it was kind of a jungle.
The chocolate cake recipe we made ended up being so yummy.
I loved the little dinosaurs hiding all over our house.
When it came time to actually blow out the candles Jay got kind of nervous. We didn’t want to put tons of pressure on him, because birthday parties can be overwhelming enough already for a little three year old. So we made it a family affair and we all blew them out together, mostly Nick, Charlie and I, haha.
We made little cupcakes with mini dinosaurs on top that turned out pretty cute too.
After the cake, everyone headed to the backyard to have a “dinosaur egg” hunt. There were baby dinosaurs inside the eggs. The kids seemed to love it.
The biggest hit of the whole party had to be the sand pit! Kids were in there from the second the party started until it finished. There were little dinosaur fossil toys buried inside that they got to dig up.
And the great thing about the sand pit, is, because we did it in a storage bin, we are going to keep it. We’ve stored it under our deck, with a lid on it, and the boys can go play in it anytime in the future. They have already loved having it at their disposal!
Jay got so many sweet presents from his little friends. But more importantly, I could tell he felt so loved and special having so many of his friends and family make it.
After the party ended he had to take a nap. When he woke up he asked where all of his friends were, and why the party was done, haha. Apparently he had a good little time.
