Have a great weekend! 6.23.17

Are you doing anything fun this weekend? If the weather cooperates (we’ve been having a tropical storm around here this week) the boys and I and some friends are going to go berry picking in a nearby town. Any tips? I haven’t gone berry picking since having kids. Here are a few links from around the Internet that I’ve enjoyed this week!

A podcast that I just found out about and have been loving this week.

Zara is having an awesome sale right now. I love their kids clothes!

Maybe you already have perfect posture, but if you don’t, like me, you might find this article helpful.

I liked this list a lot. It’s so applicable not only to stay at home Mom’s, but everyone!

I’m wishing they made Jay’s shorts in my size (minus the suspenders, ha). Have you seen any women’s shorts like them? Or any other cute knee length (or just above the knee) options?

This is my *favorite* Trader Joe’s find right now. It’s so delicious and satisfying.

The best thing that I’ve seen this week. I love this!

An Instagram account that is tempting me in my feed constantly. It’s amazing! Have you heard about it?

With the tropical storm, Cindy, thats affected us the past couple days I’ve been thinking a lot about preparing for natural disasters. I found this article helpful.

One of my favorite books of all time, introduced to me by my best friend seven years ago.

A fairly inexpensive bronzer brush that I’m buying this week! I’ve heard great things about it.

The yummiest homemade granola bars.

Have a great weekend!

first visit to New Orleans

Our first visit to New Orleans was a few weeks back. We spent an afternoon there, and to be honest, we were a little let down. We explored the French quarter on a cold, windy afternoon. There weren’t a ton of people out and about because of the weather, and the streets we were walking down had an eerie feel. We still had a good time wandering around and being together as a family, it just wasn’t exactly the New Orleans experience I was expecting.

The one area we did enjoy was Jackson Square. Kiddie corner to Jackson square we found the highlight of the afternoon, the beignets! We got them at Cafe du Monde, a French cafe that’s so aesthetically pleasing–it looks like a French cafe from the 1860’s. And they really were so delicious! But there should be more to a city than adorable rectangle shaped pastries, right??

Shoulder rides in the French quarter, wearing Dad’s hat. Love these two. 🙂
The beignets. They were so good! I want a million more.

Although we were a bit disappointed with New Orleans our first visit, the beignets were good enough that we went back, along with the promise of parts of the city we hadn’t yet explored! And I’m so glad we did. We saw so much more of the city, and the family friendly parts, when we visited the second time. And I’m hooked on New Orleans now.
