A visit to Utah: June 2018

At the beginning of June we made a quick visit back to Utah to see my little sister off on her LDS mission. The boys and I loved all the family time, and we were living for every minute of that beautiful Utah weather (especially compared to the 115 degrees we had been experiencing in Midland for the past couple of weeks)

Once we got to Utah we got to hang out with Kenz lots in her last few days at home. We went to Tibble Fork Reservoir to hang out and enjoy some quiet time (Jay even got in in his undies, because for some reason I didn’t bring swimsuits when we were going to a lake?? haha), went on a hike up the canyon, and we helped her with some last minute missionary shopping.

A couple nights before she left, my younger siblings and I climbed on top of my parents roof (while my kids were sleeping–heaven knows I couldn’t have them see me doing that haha).  We played and just enjoyed each others company all while soaking up our little sis. That dark night on the rooftop was one of those memories that will stay with me for a long time.

Kenzie left on Wednesday and it was a hard but exciting day. Kenzie was ready and excited, it was just probably more sad for the rest of us. I’m so proud of her for her decision to serve a mission, and I know she’ll be able to help touch so many peoples lives.

In our last few days we hosted a baby shower for a friend, went to the splashpad, the park, the mall, the pool with cousins, and just enjoyed lots of good Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Tanner time.

The day we were supposed to leave Jay walked into my Moms room looking sullen, and my Mom said “whats wrong Jay?” Jay said, “I’m just sad we have to leave.” My mom said “but Jay, I’m coming with you!” He got excited and then paused and said “but can you bring your playroom?” My parents have a pretty incredible playroom situation and Jay was hoping that was coming with Grandma and Grandpa to Midland with us, haha.

My parents came to Midland with us for a couple of days, my Mom even booked the same flight as me so she could help with the boys. Sweetest parents ever. Their visit and getting to see Nick again definitely helped ease us into home life. Nothing’s better than good family time, and moments like those make me extra grateful for my especially amazing one.
