Growing up, my Mom had this sweet tradition whenever she was hosting someone special to us from out of town, like Grandma and Grandpa or a close friend. She would print a photo of the relative/friend and put it in a frame by their bed, to show them they were loved, cared about, and we were excited to have them here. It was always such a nice little personal touch.
A couple of years ago, Nick’s parents started doing the same thing, and I love it! Every time we go to their home in California, there is a sweet picture frame with our family in the room we sleep in. It helps us feel welcome and at home.
We’ve just started to experiment with this tradition with our own little family. When Nick’s parents were in town last weekend, we put up a little photo of them with our boys. They loved it and commented on it a couple of times. It’s definitely something we’d like to keep up in the future!
How do you help house guests feel welcome? Do you have any fun traditions or kind gestures when hosting? I’d love to know.
*Also, I would like to make it known that the pretty bed, lamp and side table above are not from our guest room, they’re from our room! Our guest room is a makeshift living space in our unfinished basement, haha. Not nearly as pretty to photograph.
